there were SO many course offerings at the clickaway conference that i felt like i was making a sacrifice with each class i attended… there were equally appealing classes going on at the same time during each segment. in the end, i chose to NOT take a conference-sponsored photo walk during the whole time there. i did, however, take a photo walk of my own the first night. it had been a gorgeous, blue blue day and i felt compelled to be outside after a long, ten hours of being indoors.
so this country girl from the foothills of the smokies back east thought she’d find some compelling urban images in the big city ….
you know, graffiti…
spaces crowded with people…
cars…
color…
tall buildings
with edgy architecture
you know, street photography.
hm.
salt lake city has an impeccable panorama of beautifully groomed landscape and gardens, nestled down in between those edgy buildings with interesting architecture and people. i saw no graffiti, plenty of cars-but not overwhelmingly so, and tons of vibrant color…. all protected by the imposing, rugged mountains that surround it… and that i’ve learned to love so come winter.
